Calgary Sketch Club - Spring Show

Calgary Sketch Club Spring Show Dalhouse April 2nd, 2022

Don't miss the first show since cover began two years ago. Our biggest sale held at Dalhousie in NW Calgary. Here's a sneak peek at some of the 10 artworks I will bring.

This is my kitty

I have captured my son waterskiing at Pine Lake in this one

Some tulips I arranged and painted on my deck

These little birdies were in abundance on our trees this fall

We have a few crows that are quite tame that hang around our front trees and lamp posts. I was even able to pet one of them. They used to caw and follow my daughter to school , she was terrified of them.

Exhibitions

I have been practising the portrait in oil  I have a demo coming up and thought I'd do a portrait, however the 1.5 hours allowed is not going to be enough time. So I'll  have to reconsider my demo media ... Perhaps something simple like apples, hmm

This is part of the Vancouver 2022 works on Paper Exhibition

The Federation Gallery's 2022 Works on Paper exhibition is exactly what it sounds like - a celebration of all things paper! Technology and environmental concerns have resulted in a variety of different types of paper being developed, including pulp, fibre, stone, hemp, bamboo, textured, homemade and yupo. Not only is paper used as the primary substrate in this exhibition, but it's also a prominent medium throughout these artworks in the form of collage and assemblage. Be sure to check out the variety of ways our talented artists turn this humble material into works of art.  Here's the Link: https://federationgallery.com/exhibit/2022_works_on_paper_exhibition/3260

Whats on the easel?

What am i working on? well, this Himalayan/Ragdoll cat is Misty. I got her for my mom when my dad passed away so she'd have someone to keep her company.  Now mom will be moving and cannot take Misty with her, so this is the painting i am working on for her to take to new place.

Just finished some 6x8 cats 4 sale

Airdrie Empty Bowls Festival

I am so honoured to be asked to paint another bowl for the Airdrie Empty Bowls Festival in Support of the Food Bank. So here is an idea I actually had from last year when I painted the peacock.  With renovating my mom's house and getting garage sales going I decided that the idea of soaring to new heights was something I liked.  So here is my 2021 Balloon Bowl!

Here are the pictures I will add the link when they have the bidding available

Sunset Ski (in the smoke)

My daughter had me do this pet portrait for her friends mom who recently lost this dog, here it is in their favourite place to visit.

I never missed an episode of portrait artist of the week, when it finished its season and after the tv links for covid19 a facebook pair decided to keep it going and I truly love to paint a portrait weekly. This is one of the admins; Jen Ni and here is her portrait of the week. I have been too busy to paint but finally managed to get hers done. I will be picking up my painting as soon as mom's house sells.!

Birdies

My newest painting, inspired by the birds this spring. 12 x18 unframed $225.00
Noticing them more as the new kitty is mesmerized by them but quite frightened. The first time she heard them chirp she ran and hid beneath the deck. Now we just sit and watch together, she is still afraid of them. Soon she will be out of this phase....
