I need to do a few pieces for the federation show to submit on the 15th of October. So here is the drawing on canvas board of the first image. She is looking between fencing and I am not sure if I will put the upper plank in, so its to sleep to paint another day...The 2nd image will be a still life of a chess game, the third a landscape of the country just west of here.

Irricana Fire Hall Mural

Well I finally made it out to the quaint little town of Irricana which is a very vibrant art minded community. It displays murals through out the entire town, so take a drive around and don't forget to check out the Grasshopper Gallery too, its worth the drive.

Chinook

Working on this as my Airdrie scene, Just east of the mountains we see alot of CHinook Arches. They can be orange pink purple and red, what a palette!

Calgary Stampede Western Showcase Window

My yearly venture to the Western Showcase at the Calgary Stampede. Here I am working on Blue Eyes. It was nice to talk to Michelle Grant, Julie Poppelwell, Rick Berg, Adeline Halvorlson and Ken and Kathy Hoehn. It wasn't vey busy but Cheryl and I had a good time painting.

Ukrainian Music Festival August 29th

The Ukrainian Festival is coming up and I will be submitting this picture on Ukrainian Day August 8th, I'll be working on the wonderful athletic jumps of the men as well as a few ladies for artwork in late August.

I see it is time to post a new picture so here is one i am woking on for the Stampede. I finished a spanish dancer earlier in the week but I am not supposed to advertise her yet. This horse is from The Airdrie Canada Day parade- 2009, I wonder if I will see it tomorrow.

Quick Study of a white mare

For my last class with the seniors we painted horses. It is the right time of year to be thinking Western. I brought in photos of the horses from the Lauder Ranch and each member chose one to paint, they did brown, blonde and white horses, everyones was different. In just over an hour they all were wonderful paintings. Shows how much their skills have developed. The idea we had for Jane turned out so well I decided to paint it myself.

Paint

Yeah, My paint has finally arrived from the states, Thank you to Jodie who made the arrangements and to my aunt and Uncle- Lil and Lorne for bringing it to Alberta from Alamo. I have started an acrylic and can't wait to try it out. Acrylic is not the medium I like to use but it should make me a more prolific artist being able to paint quicker. It will take some getting used to as I like to blend on the canvas, but we will see what happens....In the meantime here is the horsey bowl I created for the empty Bowls Festival held here on Saturday.

I am still tweeking the painting but here is the last photo of the painting.

Along with the Series: "Girls Love Horses", I am Painting a miniature series on 8 x 10 canvas "Faces of the Stampede". This includes this rodeo clown I am working on.
