Workshop with Sarah Kidner in April

urban scenes in oil

paintings i was working on:

Workshop with rick Berg

During the months of April and May
we had talented Artist Rick Berg teach us classes on colour theory
The ever hard working... Rick Berg... You can always find him painting in his studio and that is great for our motivation.

Here is the artworks I was working on, having brought yellow items of various textures we proceeded to record the textures with oil paint

May workshop with Roberta Combs

Roberta Combs was our May workshop Instructor and here is the uncompleted piece I was working on:

The workshop ended on a Monday and I was off to Edmonton to help plant the garden, It rained all week and so didn't get the work done til the following saturday; We got most of it in and then it started pouring, well, we got drenched but completed the planting.
I had been accompanying my father on the tractor when he had a heart attack as we were preparing to plant the garden and then later that week had the successful open heart surgery. I have been away since the workshop as I was visiting my son out of country.  He and his wife have been blessed with a baby girl and I went to spend some time with them.

CONNECTED

While in New Orleans I was walking along and began talking to this girl.  She had wonderful skin and beautiful tones, So I asked if I could paint her and she happily agreed,  It's been a while but finally I had some time to paint her, I love her bright blouse and head scarf against her gorgeous dark skin.
I called her "CONNECTION" because of the juxtaposition of new technology with the traditional head wrap.  This was an insight from my son Kyle who said it looks like traditional and technology entwining.
... if you are just glancing at the painting as you rush on by, you may make the "connection" because of the cell phone call...

Workshop Weekend

Well here is the happy fellow I was working on and will change the post when I complete him.
Not a Saskatchewan fan  But Look, in a saskatchewan hat, The look on his face in the painting isn't going to be anything like the look of surprise he'll have when he sees I caught him wearing this gear!!
Muhahaha

A Creative Life
The paintings of Tami Hort
January 2 – February 28, 2014

Good painting is nothing else but a copy of the perfections of God and a reminder of His painting. ~ Michelangelo

Tami Hort is inspired by the words of Michelangelo through her interpretation of blazing sunsets, expansive mountain and prairie views, and natural beauty of the horses here in western Canada. Although the sights may be common, it is this exceptional splendor that provides a colorful muse for her as an artist.  Every day the same and yet each day ever changing with every moment a new experience.  She prefers to create images that replicate her experience, to portray timeless moments.  Along with landscapes, Tami loves to paint people, in all of their expression and colourful characteristics.  Her favorite medium is oil though she is also proficient in pastel, acrylic and watercolour.

Tami was born in Saskatchewan where she received her first award for artwork in elementary school though she continues to be recognized having received many prestigious awards throughout her career.  She believes that anyone can be an artist and that developing an artist’s eye is as simple as learning the alphabet and in that belief teaches home school students, adults and seniors art enrichment as well as working with those in need of assisted living through her company The Artist Playground.
