Zhaoming Wu Workshop Calgary Day 2

It was great to see all the styles of painting in the workshop since we were all painting the same figure.  I worked on the face for too long and did not finish, but many of the artists did finish. Here is look at all the pieces.  I was impressed with the quality of work by the artists, I think we all had a great time.

Here Zhaoming is spending some one on one time with Cheryl.  He would walk around the room and point out - what to him was obvious, I am sure we all heard "the head is too big, or the feet are too short".  Sometimes when an artist was having trouble he would paint parts of it out for them so they could see the process and the wonderful way to apply the paint.

Our models: Paulina in Blue and Kassi in the white.
We had a full day to paint (6 hours) for the second painting.

Zhaoming Wu Monday May 27th

Of course it was raining to beat the band but this time I did Whisk in to grab Zhaoming from the hotel and was off to the workshop.  We readjusted the stage and props on the stage for better viewing for a smaller group.  Zhaoming started with another Demo, this time Paulina wore a light dress.  We watched as Mr. Wu blended and married colours and worked with edge control; soft and lost edges, all to our benefit. Unfortunately a much harder concept to apply then to watch the master painter as he simply  breathed it in.
Here is the demo

Following are a few attempts by the workshop participants. You must realize a workshop painting never gets finished at the workshop and some rare cases, actually gets finished at home.  Please do not judge the paintings we are just trying to apply new concepts to the ones we have ingrained in our mind, not an easy thing to do we found as we all fall back to paint in our own style.  But workshops are about learning, trying, and understanding what the workshop leader has to offer each artist.

Zhaoming Wu Demonstration Sunday May 26th

I began the workshop with a demonstration by Zhaoming Wu.
I purchased a gorgeous dress that I thought was in the Zhaoming Wu "STYLE"
The demonstration was three hours long on Sunday evening , It included a wine and beverage bar as well as vegetable, cheese and other healthy food munching platters.
During the demo it was very quiet
Here is the beautiful Painting.

I began in the morning by dropping off the goods, chairs, materials, equipment, food, drapery, and the rest of the stuff.  Then I headed home to drop off the truck and pick up the car to go to the Calgary Airport , there I whisked Zhaoming (hahahaha whisked, yah sure, a little drama at the airport, but indeed I saved Zhaoming and not to mention my BUTT from his dreaded trip right back to San Franscisco) So we headed to Atlantis Framing Studio where we discussed the set up for the evening, and the costume.
He then checked in at the hotel and we had a quick bite to eat and headed back to the shop.
People were already filing in at 5 o'clock.
Thanks to Leila and Marija for all there help in registrations and set up, thanks to Ellen and the other ladies who lent a hand.  Many thanks to Ken who built the stage and helped in the props and setup.
