I attended a workshop held by The Federation of Canadian Artists in Calgary With Angus Wilson.
Here are the processes and finished art pieces I created. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the workshop created from still life. The finished artworks with black outlines are so bright and happy.
The still life set up The Sketch
The colour combinations, none that I actually chose, I even painted over few of these minis to see more results. We downloaded a program called Art Rage (Instructor uses PROcreate) to help us with configuring the colours on our drawings. I didn't bring a computer device to do this on the first day so resulted in painting little examples. I went with the complimentary colours of yellow and purple (of course purple!) rather than any of the colour choices I created. Another element was to refractor an element and so I chose the vase, I was very pleased with my result.
The plate with the pieces left over from creating the still life set ups was beside me so my first painting was inspired from this. The knife just took me out of the picture in the first drawing so Angus suggested i place it coming into the artwork form the left. This is the painting, I love the pomegranate!
This is the quick still life i created from another set up. Just experimenting with colour. Green against red, orange against blue, the front was going to be purple against yellow but with the flowers in that colour I think it would have been too much. Perhaps the way to settle the colours would be to try out the program or to create the mini colour paintings to find the best colour that would COMPLIMENT each other
